I was up early this morning to go train some clients, but I ran into vehicle trouble on the way and had to cancel the session. Hopefully, when my mechanic can take a look at things later this can be resolved without too much additional stress on time and finances. I will put my trust in the Lord.
This led me to having some additional time this morning that I used studying scripture. I still did my three sets of five pull-ups that needed to be done today, and still needed 45 second rest periods, but this may soon be worth trying to reduce to 40 seconds. I also listened to scripture somewhere in Helaman as I did dishes this morning. But my insight to share was piqued when I decided to do a quick study on the topic of faith and Doctrine and Covenants 130:20-21 popped up... I thought to myself how this scripture seemed out of place and wasn't really talking about faith.
It reads:
"There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated—And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."
This, to me, doesn't jump out as a faith scripture. It gave me the opportunity to try to understand this better. I can now see that a critical part of faith is knowing that our actions matter. Understanding that divine law dictates that various consequences are based on the actions we take helps us to be able to put faith in the divine justice of god. It also encourages me to continue to make little improvements in my behavior as over time the positive behaviors I adapt and strengthen will yield increased promised blessings.
