It burned them not

Accountability

This morning I did 3 sets of 20 push-ups and my rest time between sets decreased to 40 seconds from 45. The final set I hit a wall at 18 and couldn't get another rep out, so I stretched back into something between a downward dog and child's pose briefly which then left me just enough to squeeze out those two final repetitions.

For scripture study, I did some reading around Alma 37 last night as well as some reading from a companion study book for the Doctrine and Covenants. In doing so I made an interesting discovery I don't remember coming across before how Wilford Woodruff took quick action to secure the copyright for the Doctrine and Covenants in England after learning of a plot by enemies of the church to get the copyright there so that the church wouldn't be able to print and distribute the work there.

Ponderings

While listening to scripture this morning the phrase, "it burned them not" stood out to me in listening to the account of Nephi and Lehi (sons of Helaman) were preaching the gospel to the Lamanites and were taken by an army and thrown into prison. They were deprived of food for a few days and were going to be killed, but then were surrounded by a pillar of fire and it burned them not. They took courage when they realized this and preached to the others in prison who were encircled by a cloud of darkness, but given strength to behold the light and see the faces of Lehi and Nephi.

There are different directions I could go with thoughts around this, but to be brief I am going to say that many fear the events leading up to the return of the Lord to the earth. While there will be many trials ahead of us all, let us work to build our faith to be ready that when faced with the fire of His glory that it will burn us not.

Be Strong!
