Weak through transgression

Accountability

This morning I did three sets of five pull-ups with 45 seconds between sets and I listened to scripture this morning while tidying up and also read last night.  If you've been reading along, I'd encourage you to commit to some small steps and I'd love to hear how you're doing.

Ponderings

Helaman 4:26 reads:

For behold, they saw that the strength of the Lamanites was as great as their strength, even man for man. And thus had they fallen into this great transgression; yea, thus had they become weak, because of their transgression, in the space of not many years.

This stood out to me with the theme of this site being about putting on strength and of course remembering that our true source of strength is the Lord, Jesus Christ. Our efforts to gain physical capacity will be expanded by our efforts to gain closeness to the Lord and to put those physical strengths to use in the lord's service where we will be especially blessed with what we need during times of greatest need.

Hello, Great thoughts. I see a basic comparison. A person becomes physically weak by neglect. Laziness, junk food, poor thoughts etc. are forms of transgression that weakens physical strength. I have heard that seventy percent of young men in USA are unfit for the military. Spiritual fitness will certainly suffer from spiritual transgression. Think of Gideon and his three hundred defeating a big army or Elijah in Dothan surrounded by chariots of fire. Spiritual strength certainly overpowers physical strength. “Let virtue garnish thy thought unceasingly “ comes to mind. Yes, I need to focus more on the Lord.

To clarify, The point I meant to make is that spiritual weakness is caused by neglect. Setting the Lord at naught so to speak. “It’s ok to let yourself go if you can let yourself back.” Ringing Starr Sad to see so many cases where something or someone has let things go or let their health go. The most basic transgression might just be ignoring the Lord. Of course, the Nephites might have had other transgressions like adultery and according to one author abortion. Murdering the innocent would certainly classify as transgression. On a personal level I need to be the opposite of neglectful. Vigilant and diligent come to mind.

Yes, too often long term hopes and dreams are sacrificed on the altar of short term whims.
