Last night I had a back yard fire with my girls. I was thinking about some parallels with the analogy of the spirt being like a fire burning. It seemed fitting as I've been using small changes for myself to bring about change and overcome inertia to really get restarted that to start the fire required small kindling gradually stepping up until a log is burning, and even then if one log is just left by itself it often won't continue to burn and slowly goes out without a continual supply of smaller material to keep things going. I see this as an important piece of our own spiritual fires, as it were, and how we can strengthen the capacity (size of log) we can handle, but still need to continue with the small and simple basics to keep the flame alive.

That is a great thought. Every day I say to myself how do I get closer to the spirit of God today? Draw near to me and I will draw near to you. Thanks, I like that comparison. I guess scripture study is sort of like kindling wood. It helps to get the fire going along with prayer and hymns. Right I guess kindling is the stage I’m at.
I think in same way it's a stage we all need to keep repeating to keep the fire from dwindling and burning out. A balance of smaller fuel and larger fuel so to speak.
