Still going strong - Made my bed, knelt for prayer, unloaded the dishwasher while listening to scriptures, Pull-ups, Body Rows, Back Flyes, and Biceps Curls in rest-pause sets all done this morning.
I had the privilege of hearing a portion of King Benjamin's address this morning wherein he spoke of reasons we have to remain humble and acknowledge that even if we are faithful and diligent servants all our lives, the lord blesses us for the obedience and we are always the net benefactor and remain unprofitable servants. Aside from a reminder to not be lifted up in pride, this speaks to the nature of god and His desire to bless us. It shows that in giving us commandments it's not for his benefit, but ours. He wants us to learn and grow and he wants us to receive blessings. Sometimes I think there can be a tendency to think that the Lord is requiring too much of us, but what if we reframed that sentiment such that the lord really wants to bless us. Our challenges may go from being a frustration that God sets what we may perceive as arbitrary rules and expectations on us, to that of a loving parent giving us the opportunity to expand our capacities and receive more of what they have to give.

How gentle God’s Commands. That is a great hymn that sure echoes your pondering. I remember when the seat belt rule came into effect about twenty five years ago. I didn’t like being bossed around but I decided that it really was a good rule and I could abide by it. Dr. Laura Schlesinger wrote a book about the benefits of following the Ten Commandments. I should listen to that cd set again. Rest - pause sets are something I can guess at. Does that mean only to rest for a few seconds before pushing on?
