For unto him that receiveth I (God) will give more

Accountability

Still going strong with scripture listening, reading at night, little workouts sprinkled throughout the day and especially in the mornings, and kneeling prayers. This is not to say that I can't do better, I can and need to improve - the point is that by letting small changes take place in him greater changes are being made and I am becoming more consistent all the time.

Ponderings

This morning I was listening to 2 Nephi 28 and there was a section about people not wanting to receive any more of the Lord's word as they perceived they'd already received and needed no more. The Lord states that he will give line upon line, precept upon precept and that those who receive what is given shall be given more. I think that my course of action making small changes to be better, learn more, and share some of what I learn is well aligned with this approach of cumulative reception, building a little at a time, but continuing to work at receiving the blessings the Lord has to offer.

Be strong!

Brick by brick my people, Watching the movie Seabiscuit Red Pollard said this to Seabiscuit while they were both recovering from injuries. The quotation came from Hadrian and referred to the building of Rome. Line upon line here a little and there a little. This blog has encouraged me to keep chipping away at the scriptures. Yesterday a scripture stood out to me and not for the first time. I need to call upon the blessing it was telling about. In Mosiah 24. Alma and his people were treated badly by Amulon and his group. The people with Alma were enslaved but the Lord made their burdens light. The people called on the Lord and he strengthened them. It may seem like a stretch but there is a Clint Black song that says, “I’m leaving here a better man for knowing you this way. “ The song is about a break up but likening to myself I will make it about knowing the Lord. You know how it is you go through a challenge or calling or mission and you can say, “I’m leaving here a better man for knowing you this way.” I remember reading about a pioneer involved in the Willy Martin handcart strife and saying that he learned of God’s love in his extremity (paraphrased, of course,.)
