Ye must take upon you the name of Christ

Accountability

Still going strong with daily items - I had a small course correction with my morning prayer, Thursday mornings I get up early to go train clients and get up with time to roll out of bed, get dressed and go which I did out of previous pattern, so I had my kneeling morning prayer upon returning home before my regular job begins. My three sets of pull-ups had 35 second rest intervals and I made 5,5,4 again with an additional one shortly after the 5th attempt in the third set failed to get all the way up.

Ponderings

In 3 Nephi 27 some disputations about the name of the Church are brought to the Lord. He asks them if they haven't read the scriptures that state that they must take upon them his name, call upon the father in his name, call the church in his name and do all things in his name.

What does it mean to take upon his name? When a couple are married the bride traditionally takes upon her the name of the groom's family. The woman Zion (the church of the first born) must likewise take upon them the name of the bride groom. In keeping with this taking upon a name at marriage, the couple must hold true to covenants made. The Lord will always keep his covenant, so it only the membership of the church that breaks covenant and needs to repent and return. This question is worthy of much greater consideration than a quick morning thought. For now, let me just say that we take upon the name of Christ through entering into a covenant with him, similar to marriage, or perhaps even a betrothal, and that we secure the name upon us through keeping covenant at a later day when the marriage moves from betrothal to complete and we a sealed as his.

Faithful to the Lord, Great thoughts. I’ll come back for some “deep and ponderous thoughts.” I was just going over King Benjamin’s talk. Some guidelines for faithfulness there. I just finysix hundred push ups from the knees for the day

Great work with those push-ups. King Benjamin certainly gives a powerful address to the people. I need to start a document to keep track of topics I want to delve deeper into so that when I have time they are readily available to study and compile notes.
