In 3rd Nephi chapter six, we are told of how the people had been led away into wickedness and the judges were putting people to death without the chief judge's knowledge which was contrary to their law and all manner of iniquity was among the people. The point that the greater number who had previously been righteous were now living in open rebellion against god.
In verse 15 we read:
Now the cause of this iniquity of the people was this—Satan had great power, unto the stirring up of the people to do all manner of iniquity, and to the puffing them up with pride, tempting them to seek for power, and authority, and riches, and the vain things of the world.
Essentially, the people allowed Satan to have power over them and like Satan who sought power and glory in the premortal realm, these people were filled with self-importance and sought in their pride to reinforce this self-importance with positions of power and authority and wealth.
To combat this God sent people to declare the word with boldness, and Satan stirred the people up to enter back into secret combinations to destroy those who were proclaiming the gospel
Workout report
I needed to do twenty-five squats today for three rounds with twenty seconds of rest between them. I got through more or less fine, but I did have a little knee clicking and pain that I haven't had in quite some time and it didn't seem related to the shorter rest periods as it started in the first set. During the rest periods I stretched it off and it seemed to improve a little, it wasn't enough to make me stop (though it did cross my mind).

Satan and the media, Interesting how Satan spread his evil influence around back then. I imagine there were popular people who got others to believe in whatever unrighteousness they were promoting and denouncing and cancelling the righteous. Side leg raise have helped me in the past by strengthening knee muscles.
It's true, side leg raises can help with control of the femur by strengthening and improving movement timing at the hip which can often help knee issues. Always good to have those reminders.
