I had three sets of five pull-ups to do today with 45 seconds of rest between them. I've managed to barely pull this off the last time or two, but they were starting to be questionable by the end. Today I saw more clear progress as all three sets went up and down and only the last repetition was really challenging. It's nice to see the small workouts paying off.
In my scripture study, I've been listening to the book of Helaman in the morning and reading through Alma at night before bed. In my nightly reading, I was getting through Alma teaching his son, Corianton, about restoration of good to that which is good and evil to that which is evil. How we have a probationary period on earth to choose good or evil and how the Atonement of Jesus Christ balances the laws of Mercy and Justice.
It was this last part that struck a chord with me last night as I'd recently watched a YouTube video of a fellow wanting to reform Christianity from what he saw as an overly grace-based system taught by Paul to a more works-based system he see taught by Jesus. He had some fascinating points, but seemed to miss the point of Jesus overcoming sin and death for us and swung to far into the work yourself to Heaven side of things. It's a beautiful truth we have laid before us here by Alma on how seamlessly the plan of God works to balance out both laws.
