Fitness Accountability
This morning saw me doing three sets of 20 push-ups with roughly 45 seconds between sets. This isn't optimal rest between sets, but it's part of a time-efficient strategy that I've used with great success in the past (I once had a client lose over 70 pounds and keep it off using this strategy off and on). I also added a set of banded triceps press-downs at the end. It all felt great.
Ponderings
This morning as I listened to the beginning of Helaman's account of his leading forth his 2000 "sons" into battle, it struck me that there were many other ways the Lord could have provided for this success to happen. He could have increased the numbers of the Nephite armies, He could have had the Lamanite armies stricken with illness, or any number of other things. In this case the Lord opted to offer divine protection to these young obedient warriors.
I guess, my thought here is that a lot of what I'm doing here is based on the idea of putting forth small and consistent efforts. This band of stripling warriors were small, but consistent in following the Lord's commands. As they put forth their faith in the Lord and his servant Helaman who led them forth to battle they were a small group and not considered a strong force. There role was also to be small, they would act as decoys to draw out the Lamanite armies from the fortifications of the city such that the larger and more seasoned Nephite armies could contend with them.
This turned into more than they originally expected, but they continued on to give their small offering in faith and the Lord blessed them that it was enough and preserved them to win the day. As we continue to put forth our small efforts daily to increase the strength of our faith and physical bodies we are being consistent in our small part and preparing ourselves to be ready to go into thick of conflict where the Lord may need us. Let's stay consistent in our small, but important, roles so that when called upon we are ready to receive the Lord's guidance and protection to bring to pass great things.
Be Strong!
