If it would poison a Lamanite it would also poison a Nephite

This morning I spent a little over two minutes with pull-ups. I changed things up slightly such that I did a set of six which felt, easy, rested around 40 seconds, did another set of six which was difficult, rested another 40 seconds or so and then did a final set hoping to make another 6, but getting 2 1/2 and realizing that was it for the morning.

Ponderings

This morning's thought comes from listening to some later war chapters in Alma where the Nephites rescued prisoners by getting the Lamanites drunk and how the Lamanites attempted many times to use the same concept, but with poison for the Nephites and how the Nephites would ensure to test any wine by giving it to Lamanite prisoners first as if it would poison a Lamanite it would poison a Nephite.

This had me thinking how with the Doctrine and Covenants being the Come Follow Me study text for next year and how tied to church history this is, that it's extra important to ensure we are not drinking in poison along with the fruit of the vine. We can watch and see what impact following unreliable sources has caused in the lives of others who drink them in and be cautious to not drink the poison ourselves.

It seems that just like the Nephite history had standard enemies from within the ranks of the Lamanites and more staunch enemies who had fallen away from the Nephites, that the Church today has those without the church who fight against it having never been part of the faith, and those who are more committed to bringing people away who have left themselves. While we would love to see them healed of the poison they have partaken of, we also need to be cautious to avoid drinking it in ourselves.
