Look forward unto the Messiah

Published on 13 May 2025 at 07:39

This morning I had push-ups, triceps work and shoulders to attend to and left myself feeling it to a point that putting dishes away in the cupboard after was challenging to raise my arms high enough. I've received a new calling, I can't talk about what it is yet, but it's caused me to fast and pray for guidance. I find in doing so, I snack more at night after breaking the fast. I'll need to work on curbing this to stop the pattern from further taking hold on me.

My thought for today is based in Jarom 1:11 where we read the intent the Law of Moses was given was to persuade people to look forward unto the Messiah, and believe in him to come as though he already was. I was thinking of how today we have record of the savior already coming and being alive through resurrection and yet we too need to believe as He is not publicly walking among us and leading the affairs of His kingdom directly, tangibly as it were. How can we believe in him as though he is already here?

I'm sure there are many possible answers and I don't pretend to have a best of the bunch answer to offer, I was simply blessed with the question this morning and will need to think on it.

Be strong!

That reminds me of a couple of songs. A primary song asks”If the Saviour stood beside me, would I do the things I do?” Another nice song has the idea that it would be good to “live my life as if he were coming today.” You brought up a great point to ponder. The atonement can be personalized. Living as he was already here should be personalized as well, I’m thinking. That hymn about the green hill far away is one I think of and I turn the we into I. I believe it was for me he hung and suffered there.
