Accountability

Still gong strong! For this morning's exercise I had four rounds of two-minute wall sits to get through with two minute breaks between rounds. During the period between wall sits I opted to also add 1-minute planks. By the third round of wall sits my thighs were screaming at me, but I persevered and it was great.

Ponderings: Feasting on the words of Christ

I've been being more careful with food choices and amounts lately as I have recognized a need to whittle off some excess. As I sat here eating my breakfast this morning, I was thinking about eating the right things and not eating too much to keep energy and nutrients in a good balance. Then I thought about how this relates to feasting on the words of Christ. Feasting doesn't conjure up thoughts of moderation generally, but I wondered to myself if one couldn't overdo it. What came to my mind is that in studying the gospel, it's important to have a well-rounded consumption and not a hyper focus on one area. This would be akin to eating a variety of foods for rounded out nutrient diversity. Then I thought (sadly because it goes against my introvert energy) that just as fuel intake from food needs to be used in activity, that our study of the gospel needs to be more than just treasuring up knowledge, but we need to get out and serve others and share what we're learning and enhance our learning through experience. Then we are truly feasting on the words of Christ.

Be strong!

I heard a talk by Truman Madsen where he said that fasting is feasting. I find that walking and praying is maybe a step in the right direction. My dad’s favourite scripture includes “feasting upon the words of Christ.” That’s the one that starts, “Wherefore ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ and a perfect brightness of hope and a love of God and all men.” The next verse gets to the part about feasting. In regard to service and extending the feasting to serving others that is right there doing the basic family building day by day. Somewhere in my life I learned that a small twist of attitude. A job can be drudgery or a happy event. I remember a line from a talk at my dad’s funeral. “Bill was a rich man he died a rich man. He was rich because he was rich in service.”
