Accountability
I have continued another day with my commitments of prayer, scripture study, and exercise morning and evening with greater structure at one end of the day (my morning exercise is structured, while my scripture study is simply listening, and in the evening I read scriptures, but my exercise is varied such as a quick walk around the block or walking stairs or riding a stationary bike and such). Today's structured exercise was push-ups and I needed to complete 3x20 with 20 seconds of rest. I thought I'd have it as last time I was within one repetition of conquering this. Alas, I fell short and failed after sixteen reps in the final set today. I added an extra set that was good for six reps after another twenty seconds.
Ponderings
As I listened to the account in the book of Ether this morning, I was again struck with the brother of Jared being chastened for three hours by the Lord for not calling upon His name. The Lord goes on to state that the spirit will not always strive with a man and that he needs to repent of this great wickedness before he is ripened in iniquity. It seems that the brother of Jared was not doing any great sins of commission, no adultery or murder or greed, simply the sin of omitting to call upon the name of the Lord. Yet this was considered to be a gross sin. I need to make more time to share these thoughts as there is more I would like to say, but need to run to work. At the very least, this reminds me of the importance of saying my prayers.
Be strong!
